White Sox could target Michael King, who declined his player option, as a frontline starter to pair with Sean Burke. King posted a 3.21 ERA over 185 innings in 2026, though a strong playoff run may have raised his price. The low payroll leaves room to spend. 💰
Historically on Oct. 31: Wilbur Wood narrowly lost the 1972 AL Cy Young to Gaylord Perry, 64 votes to 58. In 2024, the Sox hired Will Venable and bought out Yoán Moncada's contract for $5 million rather than pay him $25 million. 🗓️
Sox Machine's Hundo P lays out an offseason blueprint: add a top and mid-rotation starter, right-handed bats, and bullpen help. The plan tenders Vargas, Doyle, Bart and Brazobán, non-tenders Leasure and Murphy, and targets Japanese talent. 📋
Sox Machine's fan-GM offseason plan treats the White Sox as a young playoff-series winner facing a lockout. It proposes tendering Vargas, Doyle and Brazobán, and non-tendering Bart, Leasure and Murphy. It also floats pursuing Woodruff and Happ. 📝
Sox Machine's "Big Friday" offseason plan argues the surprising 2026 White Sox shouldn't be a fluke: tender Vargas, Doyle and Brazobán, non-tender Bart, Leasure and Murphy, and chase Sonny Gray. It also floats a Benintendi-for-Ketel Marte trade idea. 🧾
A Sox Machine reader's offseason blueprint pitches the White Sox as World Series contenders if they add starting pitching. It floats Skubal and Sonny Gray signings, a proposed Langeliers trade, tenders for Vargas and Doyle, and non-tenders for Bart and others. 🧾
Will Venable looks likely to land among the final three AL Manager of the Year candidates, announced Monday at 5 p.m. CT on MLB Network. He guided the Sox from 102 losses in 2025 to 84 wins and a Game 5 in the ALDS. The Sporting News already named him its AL pick. 🏆
ESPN's way-too-early 2027 power rankings slot the White Sox 13th, projecting a third-place AL Central finish after a 24-win jump to 84 wins and the 2026 playoffs. Citing the "Plexiglas Principle," ESPN flags thin pitching and second-half strikeouts. 📉
Sporcle Saturday asks Sox fans to name all 52 White Sox second basemen with 2+ bWAR in a season (70%+ games at second). Chase Meidroth's 4.5 bWAR and Gold Glove finalist year is rare air, which makes the quiz a pointed look at the position's thin history. 🧩
Six White Sox, including Newcomb, Fedde and Pham, hit free agency. Sean Newcomb is the top re-sign case: 90.1 innings, 3.09 ERA, four saves, and opener-to-bulk versatility. But he reportedly wants to start, which could complicate a return. ⚾
White Sox fans got emails inviting them to early-November focus groups on ballpark features for Justin Ishbia's proposed South Loop "Railyards" stadium. The team only delivered the invites; Ishbia's City River Holdings runs the sessions. Mailman duty, not endorsement. 📬
A fan-written offseason plan imagines Chris Getz building a true contender after the White Sox's 2026 leap: 24 more wins, a playoff berth and a series win. It's a hypothetical blueprint, and payroll (about $100M in 2026) is the big question. 📈
White Sox enter a winter where success raises expectations. Getz cites payroll flexibility and a need for starting pitching, though the free-agent class is shallow. Bergolla Jr. looks like the Nov. 17 Rule 5 protection add. Contender problems, finally. 🔧
This is a fan-written offseason blueprint, not a confirmed plan. Sox Machine's BC proposes tendering Vargas, Doyle, Bart and Brazobán, non-tendering Leasure and Murphy, and signing Randy Arozarena (5 yrs, $115M) and Adrian Morejon (3 yrs, $42M). 📝
A Sox Machine fan plan for a 2027 run is purely speculative: tender Vargas, Doyle and Brazobán, sign Freddy Peralta, David Bednar and Alec Bohm, and trade Billy Carlson and Davis Martin for Reid Detmers. Bednar's arrival would free Grant Taylor for the rotation. 📋
Sox Machine's offseason plan treats 2027 as a push for the AL Central, with Randy Arozarena and Michael King as hypothetical big-name adds. It would tender Vargas, Doyle and Bart, non-tender Leasure, and re-sign Sean Newcomb (2 years, $14M).
A Sox Machine reader's offseason plan, not a done deal: ThomasW93 would tender Vargas, Doyle, Brazobán and Leasure, non-tender Bart and Murphy, and sign Rogers, Imanaga and Robert. It also floats dumping Benintendi's salary on the Angels. Pitching depth is the priority. 🧩
Tatsuya Imai opted in to his $18M 2027 deal with Houston after a 4.93 ERA and 51 walks in 76.2 innings. The White Sox, once tied to him in Yahoo Japan rumors, dodged a pricey, shaky arm. 🎯
A Sox Machine offseason blueprint urges aggressive free-agent spending in a weak AL Central, even at the cost of a pricey 2027. It would tender Vargas, Doyle and Leasure, non-tender Bart, and float Walls, Kiner-Falefa or Crawford at shortstop and Arozarena in the outfield.
A Sox Machine reader's offseason blueprint, not actual team moves: tender Vargas, Doyle and Brazobán, non-tender Bart, Leasure and Murphy, and chase Kevin Gausman on a proposed 1-year, $21M deal. The goal is a lasting winner, not a one-year bump. 🔧
