Kaima Taira, the 26-year-old righty who led NPB with a 1.36 ERA, will be posted by the Seibu Lions. Many view him as the top free-agent starter after Skubal. The article's Mets angle is cut off, though: no reported interest is shown. ⚾
Mets claimed infielder Kyren Paris off waivers from the Angels and designated Cristian Pache for assignment. Paris posted a .981 OPS at Triple-A Salt Lake, a hitter-friendly park, against a .510 big-league OPS. Low-risk depth, with a bat to prove. 🎯
Mets claimed Kyren Paris off waivers from the Angels and designated Cristian Pache for assignment. Paris, nearly 25, went 0-for-15 in eight games in 2026, but his former top-prospect pedigree gives him a shot at being more than the next Pache. 🎰
Robert Stock's return to the Mets: 30.1 innings across seven starts and one relief outing, a 5.93 ERA but a 3.92 FIP, before finger numbness ended his year. His 2027 spot is unclear, though he's a reasonable depth option if injuries hit. 🔄
The Mets hired longtime Twins scouting director Deron Johnson as a special assignment scout on October 29, adding 32 years of amateur-scouting experience to the draft brain trust. The Twins let him go in September, and the hire links him to Derek Falvey's orbit. 🔍
Mets enter the offseason with a full 40-man roster and three players on the 60-day IL, so three must be cut by Nov. 2. They just claimed Kyren Paris off waivers and designated Cristian Pache for assignment. Bo Bichette is not expected to opt out. 🧹
A prediction piece, not a done deal: it projects the Mets landing two of its top 10 free agents, with Tarik Skubal and Teruaki Sato among the headliners. A likely Dec. 1 lockout could push teams to sign players in November, before the shutdown. 🔒
Speculation is circulating that the Mets could pursue trade targets this offseason, with Drew Rasmussen and Hunter Brown named among the top five. Prospect depth from the deadline deals could give David Stearns room to chase rotation help. 🔄
Bo Bichette is reportedly exercising his $42 million player option for 2027, per The Athletic's Will Sammon. After a .260/.312/.390 line with 18 homers in year one at third base, passing on that money would've been bold. 💰

Mets' hitting coach search hit a snag: Kevin Long and Cubs' John Mallee reportedly opted out. With a possible lockout looming, the offseason to-do list runs long: bats, arms, and answers on Semien, Senga, Polanco and a shaky bullpen. 🔧
Mets are being urged to monitor Spencer Torkelson, who MLB Trade Rumors lists as an offseason trade candidate. The ex-No. 1 pick could be a buy-low first base option if Detroit moves on, but nothing is reported as imminent.

Bo Bichette is staying with the Mets, taking his $42 million option for 2027 as expected. He'll try to rebuild value before another call on 2028. The big question: how that salary squeezes resources at first base. 💰
Mack's outfield review grades the Mets' system an A+, calling Soto, Benge, Ewing and Morabito a "four-headed monster" for years to come. Prospect Aiden Robbins could eventually push Soto to first base or DH. Depth is the problem the Mets don't have. 🌳
Michael King declined his Padres player option and hit free agency, putting a familiar rotation target back in play for the Mets. They met with him last offseason, and he posted a 3.21 ERA over 185 innings in 2026. Round two could be coming. ⚾
